The Promo Type field for your deals and discounts on the Promos page determines a few things. It tells the software how to update dollar amount totals when customers or patients checkout on your Shop page, and it allows you to list exactly what the deal or discount should be.
Click into the Select Promo Type drop-down menu to see the list of available deals and discounts. We'll explain each below.
% Discount on item(s)
Enter the % discount in integer form and associate products accordingly. This is to offer a discount on specific items only.
- Example: "Get 20% off all Kaviar joints this week!"
To set up a 20% discount, enter 20 into the % Discount field.
$ Discount on item(s)
Enter a $ discount in integer or decimal form instead of a percentage (4.2 = $4.20 discount). This is to offer a dollar amount off of specific items only.
- Example: "$15 off Balance tinctures for Tincture Tuesday."
$ Set Value
Select this option to offer a particular product for a certain discounted value (e.g. $2 prerolls or $20 eighths). Enter the set $ amount and also associate the product you are offering for this set amount.
- Example: "Purchase any 5 carts for $100 OTD. Valid through 12/16."
- Example: "Spend $75 or more and get any preroll for $4.20."
Buy One, Get One
Associate items with this promotion so customers or patients can buy one and get a second of the same item free. You can associate multiple products, but in order for the promo to work, they have to buy 2 of the exact same item.
- Example: "Buy 1 get 1 free on all O-Pen batteries this whole month! Minimum purchase of $25 required."
When setting up a BOGO deal, you will want to consider limiting the quantity. To do this, click into the Don't limit quantity drop-down and select Limit quantity.
From there, set the Limit quantity to field to any number you'd like. Entering 1 will allow people to buy one and get just one for free. Entering 5 would allow people to buy up to five and get up to 5 for free. If you do not limit the quantity, someone could order 50 and expect 50 for free.
Select this option if you want to offer a free item, and associate products accordingly.
- Example: "Add a free grinder when you spend $50 or more."
% Discount on Order
This is a full cart discount and applies to a % discount on the entire order.
- Example: "It's Green Friday, order online at The Bakery for 25% off all orders!"
$ Discount on Order
This is a full cart discount and applies to a $ discount on the entire order.
- Example: "$10 off for all first time online orders with promo code FIRST10."
All promo codes can only be used 1 time per account. If you run a weekly special, you'll want to change the code frequently so that repeat customers can continue to use it.
Your customers or patients can only use one promotion per order. The software will not allow more than one to be applied on any one purchase.
